Romans 10: 9-10.”But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved..”
In prayer, our positive confession of Christ builds our faith. If all we do is confess our weakness, we can leave the place of prayer full of sorrow or self-pity. When we confess out the negative, then confess the REALITY OF WHO JESUS IS, in each situation for which we have prayed, we leave knowing that the power of God has accompanied our confession and that His Spirit is at work in the lives and situations for which we prayed.
Think of how this works in the FAMILY. Many parents see only the wrong in the children. In prayer, we can ask God to forgive our children. then we move beyond the sins and into the realm of the supernatural by confessing Christ’s forgiveness for them, His care for them, the Father’s provision for their salvation and His plans for their lives.
Our egos as parents may be hurt to see our children acting up in school or dropping out of church activities, but we have to subject our egos to the Holy Spirit to pray effectively for them. This is how we admit the problem, yet pray in POSITIVE LIFE-GIVING FAITH.
The flow of God’s Spirit is a positive flow, full of the goodness of God, His love, grace, mercy and forgiveness. When we pray according to His Spirit, and when we confess His goodness during a conversation, we release His power into our lives, the lives of others and the very circumstances in which we find ourselves. To acknowledge is to confess – faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and God.
