Genesis 26:1-3 KJV. “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;”
In Genesis 26, we find Issac in a place of dryness. Verses 1-3 says
God specifically tells Isaac not to run to Egypt where it is comfortable, but to stay in the land to which He had led him. Many times when we find ourselves in a dry place, the first thing that comes to mind is, I am getting out of here! If it is dry in the prayer closet, we will think of all the things we need to do in our day and leave the prayer closet. If it seems dry to us in the church we attend, the thought comes, “I am going to where there is a mover of God.” Or if it seems dry in our social or business life, the thought comes of leaving and finding a city with economic prosperity. We thank, “If I stay here, I will dry up and never see the plan of God fulfilled in my life.” There are so many Christians these days who do just that. They run from activity to activity, from church to church, from city to city trying to find a church or city that is not “DRY”. Instead of DIGGING AGAIN, the wells and allowing God to use them to bring refreshing to that DRY place, they go seeking the place of EASE! What they do not understand is that in many of these instances God intendeds to bring forth the vision He has given them right there in the “DRY PLACE.” I am not saying this is always the case.
There are times when God prepares us for a new place and allows the old to dry up. You must be led by the Spirit of God! If God is not saying anything – and you are not putting words into God’s mouth – then you must stay, fight and DIG AGAIN !
