Matthew 5:8. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
Having the proper attitude is so important in serving God and the people of God. True service to God, and the people of God is from our hearts. The quality of our service to God, and His people is determined by the quality and motivation of our hearts.
What does it mean to have a “pure heart”? To have a pure heart is to have a clean heart; to be unsoiled, unmixed, unpolluted to be cleansed, purged, forgiven; to be holy to have a single purpose, that of God’s glory.
There are positive results for having a pure heart:
- The person who is “pure in heart” lives a clean life. James 1:27
- He keeps himself unspotted from the world
- He washes his heart from wickedness that he may be saved. James 4:14
- He obeys the truth through the working of the Holy Spirit. I Peter 1:22
- He keeps his hands clean. Psalm 24:4-5
- He seeks to be without spot and blameless. II Peter 3:14
The “pure in heart is rewarded by God. The “pure in heart” are promised – that they shall see God. Presently, the pure in heart shall see God by faith, “through a glass darkly” I Cor. 13:22. Eternally, the pure in heart shall see God face to face. They shall see Him as He is and behold “His face in righteousness”. Note what God’s Word says:
“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” I Cor. 13:12
“Beloved, now we are the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is”. I John 3:2
“As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake with thy likeness”. Psalms 17:15
As the song writer says, “When I see Jesus, Amen”. Remember what Jesus said; “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”. I want to see Him – and I want to see Him in peace! What about you?
“People Matter”, to the “Pure in Heart” – because they express and model the Heart of Jesus Christ.
