All Church Members Matter

I Corinthians 12:21 says: “And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you”.

The purpose of this passage is to stress the unity of the church. The Church is said to be a body, a body of many parts or members. It is compared to the human body throughout this whole passage.

The human body is a picture of Christ and His Church. The picture is practical and descriptive: the human body is one organism, one person, one being, one life; yet it has many members or parts to it. However, despite its many parts the body is still one organic whole. All the parts of the body are still in the body and actually form the body, enabling it to function.

“So also is Christ”. Christ is One Organism, One Person, One Being, One Life, yet to He has many members or parts to His body. However despite the many parts to His body, His body is still one organic whole. All the parts of His body actually give Him form and enable Him to function. The point is that the human body and the body of Christ’s body actually give Him form and enable Him to function. The point is that the human body and the body of Christ picture what the Holy Spirit does.

The point is powerful: All genuine believers owe our very existence to the baptism of the Holy Spirit. All that we have received of God is due to one thing and to one thing only; the baptism of the Holy Spirit into the very body of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Some who are less gifted feel they are unimportant to the body of Christ. Some members in the Corinthian Church were experiencing what so many believers experience, a sense of being less gifted, less able, less capable, less worthy, insignificant and inadequate.

However, such feelings and thoughts are false, totally untrue. The body is not significant members, but many members. Every person who truly belongs to the body of Christ, the Church, is significant and important to God and has a gift and function in the body.

Each member is necessary. The foot many not be as gifted as the hand in handling things, but the foot is still part of the body. The ear may not be able to envision things like the eye, but the ear is still part of the body. “ALL CHURCH MEMBERS MATTER”.

Please remember the body of Christ; the Church can operate only if enough members function as they are gifted to do. Also the body, the Church becomes handicapped if some members do not function and do the work they are gifted to do. Keep in mind, when the ability of the body (church) functions efficiently, the more the body (church) can do. All church members matter, because “People Matter”.

Much Love,
Because He Is – I Am
